Ribbon Splicer – Data Center (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Abilene, TX (long-term project)
Schedule: 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation | 6x10 or 6x12 shifts
Overtime: 20+ hours per week
Compensation: $23–$40/hour (based on ribbon splicing experience) + $150/day per diem (7 days per week while traveling)
Travel: Travel to/from homebase is paid for

About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced Ribbon Splicer to support a large-scale data center project in Abilene, TX. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with competitive pay and travel benefits. Key Responsibilities

Perform high-quality ribbon fiber optic splicing, including mass fusion splicing.

Conduct OTDR testing and troubleshoot as needed to ensure network integrity.

Document all splicing and testing results with precision.

Follow industry best practices and safety standards at all times.

Collaborate with project managers and team members to meet deadlines.
Requirements

1+ years of ribbon splicing experience (data center experience strongly preferred).

Proficiency with OTDR testing equipment.

Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in splicing and testing.

Willingness to work extended hours on a rotational schedule (3 weeks on, 1 week off).

Must be open to long-term assignment work in Abilene, TX.
Compensation & Benefits

Data Center Supervisor (Direct Hire)

Compensation: Up to $95,000/year + $150/day per diem (7 days per week while traveling)

About the Role
We are hiring multiple Data Center Supervisors on behalf of our client. This role oversees ISP (inside plant) fiber cable installations on nationwide projects. The Supervisor will combine technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure quality outcomes, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, train, mentor, and guide ribbon fiber splicing crews, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards.

Train and assist crews with ribbon fiber splicing and testing to meet project requirements.

Apply knowledge of data center infrastructure.

Oversee tools and materials onsite.

Communicate professionally with clients, teams, and subcontractors.

Uphold safety standards and proper use of protective equipment.
Qualifications
-
5+ years of fiber splicing experience in a data center environment.

2+ years each: data center buildout, central office buildout/frame certification, and crew leadership.

Must have ribbon splicing experience.

BICSI Installer certification preferred.

Manufacturer certifications (e.g., CommScope, B-Line) preferred.

OSHA 30, man lift, and CPR certifications required.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to travel in a 3-week on, 1-week off rotation.
