Summary:

The Project Controls Engineer/Commissioning Coordinator is responsible for providing comprehensive project controls support throughout the entire project lifecycle, with a strong focus on commissioning and startup activities. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and communication skills.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Scheduling & Control: Utilize project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, Smart Completions or other) to develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and identify potential delays.

  • Monitor project budgets, forecast costs, and analyze variances.

  • Utilize data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to track key project metrics, generate reports, and identify trends.

  • Document Control: Implement and maintain a robust document control system to track and organize all project documentation, including commissioning documents, test records, and other relevant files.

  • Quality Control: Review and validate all aspects of the work to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.

  • Oversee and participate in inspections, tests, and performance verifications.

  • Commissioning & Startup: Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to plan and execute commissioning activities.

  • Monitor and track commissioning progress, identify and resolve issues, and ensure timely completion of all commissioning tasks.

  • Support the development and execution of test plans and procedures.

  • Document all commissioning activities accurately and comprehensively.

  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate project status, issues, and solutions to project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Prepare and present progress reports, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders.

  • Proactively identify and resolve conflicts or disputes between stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Identify and analyze project risks and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impact project schedule, budget, or quality.

  • Make sound decisions to ensure project objectives are met within budget and on schedule.

  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other project personnel.

  • Guide and motivate team members on the effective use of project management tools and processes.

  • Technical Knowledge: With support from the engineering team, develop an understanding of relevant mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.

  • Gain familiarity with commissioning procedures and best practices.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • 10 years of experience in project controls, construction management, or a related field.

  • Proven experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).

  • Strong understanding of project scheduling principles and methodologies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Construction industry.

  • Experience with document control systems.

  • Knowledge of commissioning procedures and best practices.

Base Salary

$58/hr - $72/hr
